(Barrett Jones and line will try to improve this week; they should.)
Sorry there’s no more analysis on the blog today. Fighting a viral infection and just didn’t see a major need for elaboration this week. Tide should roll, even if Tyler Wilson plays; which is a real unknown. Wilson took a beating last week against La. Monroe. I don’t see how he’ll be ready this week. They had some other pretty bad injuries too, that will hamper their defense. Arkansas still not good enough on defense, and without Wilson, they’re not too swift on offense. Wilson definitely out vs. Bama now.
Auburn, if Frazier can do anything, and the defense can stop La Monroe’s qb, Kolton Browning, from running and sometimes throwing all over them, should win this week. I guess. Frazier is just not getting it done and neither is the defense. They should be able to outlast La Monroe possibly. La Monroe beat an Arkansas team that lost its star quarterback for the entire second half, but still the Hogs took a 28-7 lead. They just took their foot off the accelerator and La Monroe kept fighting. Really competed. They’re scrappy.
Big game it looks like now is in Knoxville with Gators visiting Vols. Like the way Vols are playing offense with Tyler Bray and wide receivers Cordarrelle Patterson and Justin Hunter. Need to be able to run the ball, too. They have talent in the backfield. Offensive line much improved. Their defense has also improved. Not convinced Muschamp has the Gators back. Gators still make a lot of mental mistakes, penalties and turnovers.
Missouri in an interesting contest with Arizona State. Has all the looks of an offensive shootout at home against Rich Rod and the Sun Devils. Arizona State defeated Illinois last week, 45-14, so Missouri, coming off it’s hard-fought, deflating loss to Georgia, will have to be prepared for a war.
Georgia and LSU should win big over Florida Atlantic and the Idaho Vandals respectively. South Carolina hosting Blazers. Would love to see the Blazers give’em a competitive game and have a chance. South Carolina not great on offense, Connor Shaw is the better quarterback, but Dylan Thompson did a pretty good job against East Carolina. But it was East Carolina. May rest Shaw again this week and play Thompson. The offense will come along with Lattimore and as the passing game improves. Unfortunately, it may be at the expense of the Blazers this week. Defense is very good led by an exceptional frontline with bookends Jadeveon Clowney and Devin Taylor, 6’6″, 256 and 6’8″,267 respectively. Jonathan Perry and the Blazers’ offense may be in for a long day. But they could be competitive. Still think the Blazers have got some talent. Just need something good to happen and get some momentum.
Vandy may win this week against the Blue Hose of Presbyterian. Kentucky in a war with Western Kentucky. Western Kentucky is a pretty good football team as the Tide can attest to. State in no cakewalk at Troy. Ole Miss hosting a good, revitalized Texas team.
