Recruiting update, football and bball

According to Barton Simmons of Vandy-247, this is a huge recruiting weekend for us. Barton wrote that there would be a big time visitor Saturday at the Ewe T game. He hasn’t revealed who that is, but sounds like a high four-star, five-star type. Once I know more I’ll let you know. We have three spots left, depending on what they do with this kicker, and Barton has predicted we will definitely get a second running back. Maybe an OL and a safety to go along with the back. Will keep you posted on what’s up when I learn more. Should be quite a few very interesting visitors on Saturday. Hopefully we can have an exciting, electric atmosphere and beat the Vawls to lock in two or three more to this awesome class.

Bball in a big game Friday Night at Oregon. 10 PM CT on computer. Looks like a late night. That’s OK, I stay up late on Friday nights anyway. Working, not carousing. Not like the old days. If we can pull this off, I’m pretty pumped for the team. I like the makeup of these guys. The veterans are focused and are going to flat out hustle. The young guys are going to really hustle too. We have good talent, both vets and young guys. Oregon has pretty good size and they’ve won their first two. They beat Portland State and somebody else. Nobody special. They look somewhat young like we are. They’ve got a good coach, Dana Altman, who did well at Creighton before coming to Oregon. He’s taken the Ducks to two, 20-win seasons in his first two years, but they haven’t made the big tourney yet. But this will be a major challenge for our young, developing team. We’ll have to scrap hard for this one. Hopefully we’ll shoot well. Shot 12-for-16 from trifecta last Saturday. Need to get good inside work from Shelby Moats, James Siackum and Josh Henderson. I had James’ name wrong. It’s Siacum. James is from Cameroon in Africa. Interesting and really nice young man. Loves the game and the opportunity to play in the States. James is going to really hustle and help us this year on the boards and scoring some. We’ve got the potential to be a good shooting team. Just need to bare down on defense and fight for boards. By the way, four-star center Damian Jones from Baton Rouge, Louisiana signed his letter of intent today.Damian is 6’9″, 215 and picked us over  Oklahoma, Florida, Stanford, Georgia and LSU. I watched film on Damian. He’s a game changing player. Program changing player. He’s one of the top 100 players in the country according to Rivals. Excellent student as well.  Just need to add a couple more. Will keep you posted on recruiting. Game breakdown on Friday.
One last bit of good news. UK lost to Duck last night (that school in Durham, NC) in basketball. Lovie Smith says any win is a pretty win. Any UK loss is a pretty loss, too. Jay’s status up in the air for 49ers game Monday Night. Has a concussion. Don’t want to risk it. May need to rest him, depending on severity of injury.
