Baseball with a nice 12-5 first game victory over Wagner today at the Hawk. Playing a DH today with weather coming in later tonight and tomorrow. Patrick Reilly pitched well and earned the victory. Spencer Jones, Dom Keegan and Tate Kolwyck with big days at the plate. More specifics on today’s games tomorrow. We’ll be off tomorrow due to weather, some snow, and play the finale on Sunday at 1 PM CT on SEC Network+. Game 2 is today at 4:30 PM on SEC Network+. Really like the way we’ve been trending lately. Starting to get the bats going well, and pitching and defense have been solid. We just need to continue to get reps and keep matriculating successfully through the non conference schedule. Will keep you apprised of the team’s progress tomorrow.
Basketball with a tremendous challenge versus Kentucky tonight at approximately 7:30 on the SEC Network. Scotty, Myles, Jordan, Q, Liam, Shane, everybody has to be ready to compete tonight. It’ll take a Herculean effort to emerge victorious, but I’m not putting anything past our scrappy, courageous group of players and our coach.
As John Belushi said in Animal House, “Did we quit when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor?” Heck No!”
Just having a little fun, but very serious about the guys’ chances. Know we have it in us. Fatigue, the opponent, all that stuff is true, but it doesn’t matter, we’re capable and we’re confident. Let’s pull of the Miracle in Tampa. And it wouldn’t be necessarily a miracle because I trust our team and their abilities. They can certainly get this done. Have a super night and Go Vandy and Anchor Down! Will give you an update tomorrow or later tonight after the game. We might very well be missing our great guard, Trey Thomas, who suffered a hamstring injury last night, and we’ll miss him if he is indeed out tonight. Trey epitomizes our team, just pure heart and courage. But, like has happened all year, guys like Shane Dezonie, Tyrin Lawrence and our hustling and very capable guard Drew Weikert will need to step up. I expect them too. Thanks.
