2025-26 National Football League Predictions

In our outcome-based society, I’m always tasked with predicting outcomes in football or whatever sport is forthcoming. I like doing it, so no problem.

The National Football League commences its’ 2025 season Thursday Night as “How ‘bout them Cowboys!” go to Titletown to square off with the Super Bowl 59 champion Philadelphia Eagles. As I posted last week, I’ve been watching the Jerry, Jimmy and Cowboys’ Netflix series, “America’s Team.” It’s wild, but highly entertaining. I recommend it. The Cowboys made a blockbuster deal last week when they decided they didn’t want to pay All Pro defensive end Micah Parsons what he wanted. So Green Bay traded with the ‘Boys and mortgaged their franchise for his contract and guaranteed money. He’s a heckuva player and puts the Packers squarely in the Super Bowl hunt, but QB Jordan Love will have to prove he can perform in big games if the Packers are to reach the pinnacle of the sport. The Cowboys received first round picks in 2026 and 2027 from the Packers, along with All Pro defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Parsons is 26 and Clark is 29. A lot of experts have been criticizing the Cowboys for the trade, but I like it. Two first rounders in 2026 and 2027, respectively, is strong, and, according to Jerry, they’ve got good depth on the defensive front this year. Not a Parsons, there aren’t many of those hanging around, but good talent, nonetheless. The Cowboys will take their chances at the Linc against the Eagles tomorrow on Thursday Night Football at 7:20 CT on NBC to kickoff the season. I like the Eagles in that game, 21-10. Eagles are favored by 8 1/2.

Here are my 2025-26 National Football League Postseason Predictions along with which franchise I like to hoist the Lombardi Trophy on Sunday, February 8th, 2026 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, Cali, on NBC for Super Bowl LX (60). The game kicks off at 5:30 P.M. CT. It’s the greatest event in sports, I’ll have to say. I’d put it at the top, just ahead of the National Championship Game in College Football, the Masters, the Kentucky Derby and Wimbledon. Although the US Open is pretty thrilling to watch in both golf and tennis as are the other majors in golf and tennis. And March Madness is hard to beat, too. I like the NHL’s Stanley Cup Playoffs a lot myself, just because I love watching Alex Ovechkin and my Washington Capitals attempt to capture the Stanley Cup every season. I know I’ve said this before, but I predicted the Caps to make the Stanley Cup Final in 2018, and while I didn’t pick them to win it all, pretty sure I picked Vegas, they pulled off an amazing run throughout the Playoffs and Did win it all. Ovechkin, the native of Moscow, Russia, unfortunately,  broke Wayne Gretsky’s all-time goal scoring record of 894 this past season. “The Great 8” is now at 897 and counting. He’s coming back for his 21st season as he has his sights set on winning another Stanley Cup for the franchise he’s beloved by and he loves himself. Ovi will be 40 years old when the season starts. He turns 40 on Sept. 17th. But he’s in phenomenal shape. He’s another Tom Brady Fountain of Youth elite athlete. He scored 44 goals in 82 games last season. Goals counted towards the record are only for the regular season, so Ovechkin went on a tear the last three weeks of the season to break the all time record set by The Great One. It was riveting to watch. The Caps have a good, young, talented nucleus with some super veteran leadership and talent, so they’ve got a shot.

However, some team needs to figure out how to defeat the two-time defending champion Florida Panthers.

But I’ll take the Super Bowl as the greatest spectacle in sports. Here are my Predictions for the NFL Postseason for 2025-2026. Electric season ahead of us along with College Football even though some Alabama fans are not too happy so far, while Auburn fans are guardedly optimistic.

Eagles vs Bengals

I’m going to take the Eagles to soar once again and go back to back, which is hard to do in any sport, but if any team can do it, Jalen Hurts, Saquon Barkley, A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith and their superb young coach, 44 year old Nick Sirianni, can. Give me the Birds to repeat. The Chiefs did it in 2022 and 2023. I like Phllly to do the same in 2025.

  1. I like the Eagles pick to click and I hope the Bengals or Bills can keep the Chiefs out of the Super Bowl. Smitty always steps up in the big games.

  2. Looking forward to Jerry at Eagles.
Yes, big trade with Jerry and Packers and will have to see how it shakes out.
Go Bucs at Falcons Sunday. Hopefully we can finish strong and healthy this season. Lots of improvement with the potential to do better than last season.
    War Eagle!
Thanks for all of the details.

  3. I cannot argue with the Eagles pick. They seem to have a lot of SEC talent. I love your DeVonta pick. The man can catch a football. Thanks for all DW.
