Winner this week at Congressional

The tour heads to Congressional Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland, just north of D.C, for the Quicken Loans National . Rory won the 2011 U.S. Open at this famed venue.

Network and TV times: Golf Channel, Thursday and Friday, 3;30-6:30 PM ET/2:30-5:30 PM CT.

Saturday and Sunday: Golf, 1-2:30 PM ET/12-1:30 PM CT; CBS: 3-6 PM ET/2-5 PM CT.

Weather: Tomorrow; T-storms, some could be intense, but Friday through Sunday looks superb with temperatures 79-82, Sunny, Winds 5-10 each day.

Prediction:

Going with the with the 25 year old from San Antonio, Texas by the way of the University of Georgia and Augusta State. He’s finished second this year at the Hyundai Tournament of Champions in Hawaii in January, and at the Valero Texas Open in San Antonio in April, two weeks after Augusta. This young gun is due. I like him to get it done this week.

Patrick Reed

See Patrick getting over the hump in 2016 and capturing his first title this season. He's overdue for a victory, and he's too good not to get it done.

  1. I like Dechambeau because I believe this tourney has had a lot of first time winners and I feel he is close to winning. Robby Shelton of Bama Monday qualified at the Web.Com event in Wichita so I will be following that event as well. Thanks for your insight as you are usually spot on.

  2. This field is weaker than the pre season Alabama Basketball 3 point shooting contest. Give me Kevin Chappell

    1. Thanks Walter! So Avery isn’t going to turn it around, or will there be more brick layers next season?

  3. Give me Charles "Thurston" Howell, III…..Guy has played decently this year and just did a great interview with the guys at No Laying Up….I am backing him this week.

  4. My pick this week will be a gritty performer and veteran tour player, Zach Johnson. I know I am late on commentary but he has played only one hole. Knows how to pace himself after a big tournament like last week. The putter will be his key

  5. I must regroup considering Zach Johnson is not in the field. I guess he was more winded than my scouts realized. My pick this week is been a dark horse in my stable earlier. The boy bomber Tony Finau is chomping at the bit like Creator coming down the stretch at Belmont. The 6 foot five playboy has swagger and more importantly dialed in wedge and putting games. It always comes down to the best putting.

    1. Love it Spike! Finau definitely due. Talent through the roof. You saw this like I did last year with his talent. He was super putting at the PGA on Saturday. Didn’t miss. So yes, like this call.
