It’s a massive weekend in the National Football League with 12 teams. Many questions a loom as teams set their sights on advancing to the Divisional Round. The Chiefs and Eagles earned byes with each having the best regular season in their respective conferences, the Chiefs in the AFC and the Eagles in the NFC. But these 12 teams will have the chance to make it to next week and attempt to reach the mountaintop, Super Bowl LVII in Glendale, Arizona at State Farm Stadium on February 12th. Here’s a look at this weekend’s compelling action along with predictions.
College Football Final Record
Straight up, 172-72, 70%, 16-12 in bowls
ATS, 122-118, 51%, 9-18 Bowls
TCU-Georgia didn’t work out. It was Georgia’s year, again. Coach Saban and Coach Freeze along with the rest of the SEC and the entire country have some catching up to do with Kirby Smart and Georgia. Brownie and Bama Golf predicted the blowout. Back to the drawing board.

Niners by 10
Geno Smith has passed for 30 TDs this season against 14 interceptions, but he may have a tough time with Nick Bosa and this suffocating 49ers defense. Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy, their quarterback out of Iowa State, the final player selected in the 2022 draft, has been nothing short of spectacular in place of Jimmy Garrapolo, who was injured midway through the season. I’d say the Niners think Purdy is pretty relevant to their success. It’s been raining so much in California and there is a lot more expected this weekend. Seattle plays good defense, so expecting a slugfest with the 49ers outlasting the Hawks.
49ers 14, Seahawks 3
LA Chargers (10-7, 5-4 Away) @ Jacksonville Jaguars (9-8, 5-3)

Justin Herbert and his Chargers team have had a nice season, but I’m going to take the slight upset. Trevor Lawrence has really taken a step forward this season with Doug Pederson as his coach. The Jax defense is strong as well. Like a tight one.
Jags 21, Chargers 20

Bills by 13 1/2
Tua is hurt and Teddy Bridgewater is banged up as well and is questionable. Josh Allen and the Bills are on a mission to win the Lombardi Trophy this season. Time will tell, but I like them to get off to a good start at home this Sunday. Interestingly, if Buffalo advances to the AFC Championship Game and plays Kansas City, the game will be played at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta due to the fact that the Bills-Bengals game was canceled because of the Damar Hamlin frightening incident on Monday Night football a week and a half ago. Hamlin is doing well now, miraculously, and the Bills get a break if they face the Chiefs in the Championship Game. They played one less game and weren’t given a chance to tie the Chiefs for the best record and they would have won home field with the tiebreaker had they defeated Cincy. They’ve got a lot of work ahead of them to get there.
Bills 35, Fins 14

I’m going to take Brian Daboll, Saquon Barkley and Daniel Jones to pull off the upset “inside” U.S. Bank Stadium.
Giants 34, Vikings 31
Baltimore Ravens (10-7, 6-4) @ Cincinnati Bengals (12-4, 6-1)

Lamar Jackson is out with a sprained PCL in his knee and Tyler Huntley, the backup, has a bad shoulder but will play, most likely. Still, you gotta like Joe Burrow and the Bengals in this scenario.
Bengals 24, Ravens 14
Monday
Dallas Cowboys (12-5, 4-4) @ Tampa Bay Bucs (8-9, 5-4)

Cowboys by 2 1/2
Tom Brady is 7-0 against the Cowboys in his career. Dak Prescott was tied for the league lead in interceptions with Davis Mills of the Texans with 15. Dak threw 3 pick six’s in his last 4 games and threw 7 interceptions in his last 7 regular season games. It looks quite favorable for the Bucs.
But I’ll take the Cowboys. Dak plays well and Tony Pollard, an 1,000 yard rusher with 9 TDs, and Ezekiel Elliott, 876, 5 TDs, along with CeeDee Lamb, 107 receptions for 1,359 yards and 9 TDs, and tight end Dalton Schultz, 57 receptions, 577, 5 TDs and a tough Cowboys defense led by outside backer Micah Parsons, do enough to overcome Brady and the Bucs on the road. Jerry “will get by.”
Cowboys, 35, Bucs 31

Like those picks!
Thanks, Bama G!
If I correctly remember some of the visitors won last year. I like the picks.
Thanks, WP. I can’t remember exactly, but I know the Bengals won @Tennessee and KC on their way to Super Bowl 56. The Rams won on the road at Tampa in the NFC Championship game, so it can certainly be done.
Thanks for the previews and picks, DW! Like your selections! The 49ers have a great defense, and Trevor Lawrence has come on strong down the stretch.
I’m kind of leaning towards Brady going to 8-0 vs. the Cowboys, but like the rest of your picks too.
Thanks, T’eo! Good stuff!
Thanks, D. I guess we’ll agree to disagree on that one.
