Ethan Paul one of 4 Dores that went deep yesterday
Patrick Raby pitched a gem
The hits, the homers and the Ribeyes just kept on coming in the Dores 17-3 victory over A&M in game 2 of the 3 game set before 3,309 fans at Hawkins Field on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, the Commodores moved to 3-2 in the SEC and 16-8 overall. A&M dropped to an uncharacteristic 0-5 in the conference and 15-9 overall.
Game 3 is today at 3 PM CT/4 PM ET on the SEC Network. Freshman right hander Drake Fellows gets the start for us today as we go for a sweep. Drake, is 3-0 with a 1.72 ERA. Drake squares off against Aggies’ junior right hander Corbin Martin, who is 2-2 with a 4.87 ERA.
Not to be overlooked, by any means, was the pitching of sophomore right hander Patrick Raby, who moved to 4-2 with a 1.40 ERA, pitching 7, giving up only 3 hits, 0 runs, with 2 walks and 6 K’s. Patrick was spectacular throwing 94 pitches, 58 of them for strikes against 36 balls. His control was solid and he was hitting 91-92 MPH on his fastball, locating it extremely well and added a solid change up and some curves. Excellent outing by our sophomore right hander.
But the hitting was through the roof good. In the second inning we scored 7 runs on an RBI double by Ethan Paul, a Reed Hayes 2 run triple, an RBI double by Will Toffey, and a two run shot by Julian Infante over the left central field wall. This was all done with 2 outs after the Dores already had scored a run.
We hit four out of the park as Julian hit his 4th of the season, Will hit his 4th, Jeren Kendall hit his seventh, and Ethan hit his 3rd. We scored 17 runs on 16 hits.
Superb game by the team as we go for the sweep today at 3 PM CT.
