Dave notches first victory
Dave Price gets his first win of the season over the White Sox, 8-3. Pitched very well. DP went seven, threw 119 pitches, gave up six hits, three earned runs, with two walks and nine K’s. I know it’s a relief for DP to get the W. Now 1-2 on season with a 5.21 ERA. ERA improving. Good stuff. Hit 95 on the gun. Pretty wild situation in the bottom of the seventh. David threw what was definitely strike three and Tom Hallion, the home plate umpire who had way too tight a strike zone, called it a ball. Dave was furious but kind of talked to himself. Dave got the hitter to ground out to him and was walking to the dugout and just talking to himself, obviously still mad at the call. Then Hallion yelled an expletive at David. It was totally out of control. The bench yelled back at Hallion and he threw out the most quiet player on the team, Jeremy Hellickson, a pitcher. It was unbelievable really. You could tell in the postgame interview that David and his teammates were still in disbelief about how Hallion acted. Dave was still pretty angry. It was totally unprofessional behavior by Hallion. He should be fined for it.
Pedro with a two-run single in the top of the ninth as the Bucs beat the Cards, 9-0.
Baseball wins 8-3 and sweeps State. Tony Kemp two-for-four. Now batting .399. Conrad Gregor three-for-three with three RBis. T. J went five, gave up four hits, one run with three walks and two K’s. T.J. did fine, tuning up for the rest of the season and the postseason. Need him to get back to his 2011 form. He’s getting there. Pfeifer, Ravanelle, Buehler and Rice cleaned it up. Playing amazing defense right now and the hitting has been there for the past month. Clicking very well.
