VU recap, look ahead

DP in crucial test tonight in Arlington
David goes against the Rangers tonight in the play-in game to qualify for the AL Wild card on Wed at Cleveland. If Rays don’t get it done tonight the season is over. DP faces faces Martin Perez of Texas who is 10-5 with a 3.55 ERA. He’s walked 35 and K’d 79.Dave 9-8 with a 3.39 ERA. Dave has walked 26 and struck out 147, exceptional numbers. We’ll need a high quality start from DP tonight. Tonight on TBS at 8:07 PM ET/7:07 CT.

Bears lost, but fought pretty hard in Detroit, a tough place to win-crowd noise is brutal. Jay played OK. Threw a couple of TDs late but threw three ints. Gotta get that cleaned up. Still like where he and team are at. Earl caught a TD pass from Jay. Lost 40-32. They had a 40-16 lead but we fought back, but as Coach Marc Trestman said, “we just ran out of time.” Bears host Saints at Soldier Field Sunday at 1 PM ET/noon CT in a huge tilt. Saints undefeated heading into tonight’s matchup with the undefeated Dolphins at N’Awlins. Will be a huge test Sunday for Jay and the Bears’ defense trying to stop Sean Payton and Drew Brees. Need this one.

Also, our team played very well in 52-24 victory. Played aggressively. ACS with a good game, JMatt his usual self and Jonathan Krause with an excellent game along with Jerron Seymour. Really like Jerron. He’s not tall, but he’s very strong, a tough runner and has lightning quickness and great speed. Had two interceptions which we needed to start doing. Kenny Ladler got one and Darreon Herring got the other. Darreon is a super player. Kenny has always been a player for us on defense Would like to see him and Andre Hal get those picks. They are capable of five ints each this season. Defense performed pretty well against a good offense. Play Mizzou this Saturday night at 7:30 ET/6:30 CT on CSS.
Sonny won yesterday, Pedro and the Bucs had a stellar weekend sweeping the Reds and earning  the home field advantage tomorrow for the wild card game. They host the Reds tomorrow night at PNC Park in Pittsburgh at 8:07 PM ET/7:07 CT on TBS. Pedro finished the season with 36 long ones and 100 RBI’s. Had some great at bats over the weekend. Hit number 36 on Saturday. Like where Pedro is going into the playoffs.
Mike and the Braves host the Dodgers Thursday in NLDS. Not sure when Mike is pitching. Don’t think it’ll be Thursday, but he’ll be in rotation for the series. Pitched pretty well against the Phils the other night. He gave up five hits and only two runs in six innings, walking three and striking out 6. He took the loss to fall to 13-9 with a 3.21 ERA with 46 walks and 181 K’s, outstanding numbers. Mike didn’t give up any home runs the other night, which is good. That’s one of the keys for Mike, keeping it in the ball park and getting K’s and ground balls. Like where Mike is at. He’s had a nice year and he and the Braves have high aspirations heading into the postseason. Braves host Dodgers in National League Division series on Thursday, with game time and TV to be determined.
Sonny with a very nice outing yesterday as the A’s finished off their season with a 9-0 victory and host the Detroit Tigers in the first game of the ALDS Friday with game time and network to be determined. Probably TBS again. Sonny went five, threw 79 pitches, 50 for strikes with 29 balls, gave up three hits, no runs with three walks and eight K’s. Sonny moved to 5-3 and has a 2.67 ERA heading into the playoffs. Sonny has walked 20 and struck out 67. Had a heckuva final month for the A’s as a starter. Really proud of him. Sonny won’t start Friday, Bartolo Colon will, but he’ll definitely be in the rotation. A’s another team with high aspirations. They look very good.
Rays just need to get it done tonight. Dave will be under the gun tonight. He likes that.
