Boyd had some very disturbing texts back and forth with Brandon Vandenberg during the rape incident as posted by The Tennessean. It’s reprehensible stuff. He should not be playing football for Vanderbilt University again. Really it would be kind of hard to see him continuing as a student. I’m all for our football program, but this is extremely disturbing. He will not be playing tomorrow.
Rays, Bucs and A’s all won. Rays two back of Rangers in wild card and a game up on Yankees, 1.5 up on Indians and 2.5 up on Orioles and Yankees. It was good to get a win last night. I was hard on Maddon yesterday, but this organization is committed to excellence from the excellent owner, Stu Sternberg, to the outstanding executive vice president Andrew Friedman, to the players. Maddon needs to do his part. This team should be playing in October. I like Joe as a person, but he’s got to get the job done. Decisions like he made Wed night are going to cost him team and will be all on him. But last night was a start back in the right direction. Evan Longo and Wil Myers with good nights at the plate and Fernando Rodney did an excellent job in the ninth getting the always lethal bat of Dustin Pedroia to pop out with a man on to close out the victory. It was a highly competitive series against two outstanding baseball teams. You can’t beat this September we have going on in baseball. Classic theater.
The Cards lost, so the Bucs are all tied. Like where Pedro is. The bat is coming around and he’s playing solid third. Bucs look really good to me. Rays at Twins tonight and through the weekend and Bucs host Cubs for the rest of the weekend.
A’s playing great baseball and head to Arlington to face the Rangers in a huge series this weekend. A’s 3.5 up on Rangers.
