Baseball is @ South Carolina tonight through Saturday. Tonight’s game commences at 7 on ESPN2. Junior right-hander Chris McElvain is on the hill for us. Chris is 3-0 with a 2.49 ERA with 7 walks and 37 K’s. He’ll face Gamecock junior right hander Noah Hall, who is 0-3 with an 8.55 ERA.
Friday’s first pitch is at 6 PM CT streaming on SEC Network+. Stellar freshman left hander Carter Holton is on the mound for us. Carter is 4-0 with a 2.10 ERA with 6 walks and 45 K’s. Carter will face South Carolina sophomore right hander Will Sanders, who is 3-1 with a 3.64 ERA.
On Saturday, a 1 PM first pitch on SEC Network+, our starter is to be determined, possibly Nick Maldonado or Patrick Reilly versus freshman left hander Matthew Becker, 1-1, 2.65. We’re on the road in the SEC, so we need to bear down.
Basketball blew a 9 point lead with 6 minutes left to lose to Xavier, 75-73. This very well may have been Scotty Pippen Jr.’s last game in a Vanderbilt uniform. If so, what a storied career. Scotty finished with 28 points, 9 rebounds and 7 assists. He will be missed and hoping Scotty has a terrific career in the NBA like his father did. He’s certainly got the tools to be successful.
