An electric Sunday is in store in the the National Football League. Here are predictions for the 2 blockbusters..

Packers by 3 1/2

Some people keep writing Aaron Rodgers’ obituary, that he’s going to be replaced after this season by rookie Jordan Love. I don’t know what they’re tokin, but ARodg has thrown for 48 TDs against only 5 ints. He and wide receiver Davante Adams, 115 receptions, 1374 yards, 18 TDs, are on a mission to raise the Lombardi Trophy on February 7th in Tampa at Raymond James Stadium in Super Bowl LV. Give me ARodg and Davante at home in the snow and low 30 degree weather at game time. The limited fans at Lambeau will still make noise and be a factor. They’re passionate about their team. Brady and company are tough, but these Packers are unstoppable looking.

Packers 35, Bucs 30

Game 2

AFC Championship

Buffalo Bills (15-3) @Kansas City Chiefs (15-2)

Arrowhead Stadium, KC, (around 16,500 fans, out of 76,416

Chiefs by 3

Patrick Mahomes has been in concussion protocol all week since the hit he took by former Alabama linebacker and now Cleveland Browns linebacker Mack Wilson, but is expected to play. I like the Chiefs to barely survive a really good Buffalo team. Even if Chad Henne is the starting quarterback for the Chiefs, they’re so good around the quarterback that they can get away with it. But Buffalo is a team that is right on the precipice of winning it all. They’re going to give the Chiefs everything they want with or without Mahomes. The home crowd, another highly passionate group, maybe the loudest in the NFL as it registers 3 something on the Richter Scale at times, a minor earthquake, will be a huge factor in the Chiefs escaping and reaching their second consecutive Super Bowl with a chance to repeat.

Chiefs 31, Bills 30

  1. Thanks for the analysis and previews DW! You did a great job as always. Theodopolus concurs with your selections!

  2. I hope the Bills win but it does not look good. The Packers should handle the Bucs at home. Thanks for the preview DW both games should be fun to watch.

  3. The good news is I like your picks. The bad news is I have been wrong all year. Rodgers should be the MVP this year and from his commercials appears to have a pretty good golf swing. I think the Frozen Tundra gives the Packers the edge. Post season experience and home field give the Chiefs the edge. As Hank Stram used to say to Lenny Dawson " Just keep matriculating the ball down the field boys".

  4. Good stuff, WP. I like your picks as well. ARodg is definitely the MVP with an assist from Jake from State Farm. The Patrick Price will be right just enough. Thanks.

  5. DW – Thanks for the solid analysis, as always. I’m looking forward to watching both games. Would love to see the Bills somehow sneak in to the Super Bowl after having so much heart-break during the Marv Levy years.

  6. DW – the Saints being out kills me but I like your picks. Both games should be close. I am wondering on how effective Mahomes will be. Could be an all Jake from State Farm Super Bowl.

  7. It could, MB. Good question on Mahomes. Guys can come back a week later from concussions and be good to go, but he’s also got a bad toe, so he could be a little affected by that, too. It’s not certain he’s playing though I’m expecting him to.

  8. MB, Mahomes is out of protocol and will play. Again, he has a toe issue from last week as well, almost looked like a turf toe, but may not be that severe. Definitely something to keep an eye on Sunday. Like I said, the Chiefs, with all their talent on the perimeter, can make any QB look good though Mahomes is a cut above most.

  9. I like your picks as well, but my gut tells me there will be an upset in one of the two and that’s likely to be the Bills pulling it off. I won’t be surprised if Brady wins too. They both should be great games.

  10. DW- Go Bucs down here in Tampa!!
It’ll be tough. Yes many things point in Green Bay’s favor. It won’t be a repeat of Tampa’s Week 6 victory here. Tampa is deep at receiver and tight end even with A. Brown out. There will be plenty of deep balls thrown by both QB’s. I’m pulling for our defense to make some plays like last week.

  11. Yes, SH, you guys have an excellent defense. I just like the Packers in their kind of weather and ARodg is playing at a level I haven’t seen maybe ever. But can’t ever count out Brady especially with this team around him. Best of luck. Thanks, my man.
