Great call on Scheffler and Straka. I could not get your bracket to open
I am seeing some serious chaos in your bracket! That would be one heck of a run by N C State. Congrats on the Sheffler pick.
Dont give up…dont ever give up…..I miss Derek Wittenburg Lorenzo Charles Cozell McQueen and company. I love your picks though…I am going with the Arizona Wildcats and Mcneese St as my upset special.
Could be, Bama G. Certainly a real possibility. Thanks for the comments, fellas. Let the chaos commence!
David, its Steve Goyer in Jacksonville. Anita sends her love of your family. I always appreciate your insights and "mostly" agree, although your excitement about NC State seems a little excessive. I can only think that since they beat the Tar Heels they must be great. lol.
There was a long interview with Scheffler after the win Sunday most folks missed but I found to be a remarkable testimony to his character and faith. Some typically stupid reporter asked him if he was starting to compare himself to Tiger since he’s been #1 for almost a year. He smiled and said, "well I was walking down the fairway recently and a fan yelled out, "Congrats on being number one this year. Only 11 more years to go." Then he went on to compare the tourneys and majors he has won verses Tiger while laughing. Then he immediately went to what he was most excited about. His wife, his child due this month I think and what all that means to him. He also mentioned a "small group" he was in with a couple of young fathers pushing a baby carriage. A "small group" is code for a small group of men from a church who share their faith and life events with each other way more vulnerably than most other me do. The point is that those you mentioned who moved to LIV in the Players Championship piece, seem to me to be typical of our world today, while those who stayed in the PGA are paradoxically more the outliers- competitive yes, yest also with character, humility, and values that transcend $$$. Like you I thought Rohm was in that group and was disappointed when he jumped ship. I watched 45 min of a LIV event a couple of weeks ago and it seemed little more than golfs version of another "reality" game show with the music and TV screen scoring optics to match. UGH what is the world coming too?
All this is to say, I appreciate your perspective and point of view-value based.
Hope all are well in your world otherwise. Steve
Thanks for the awesome commentary, Stevo! Hope you’re great! I know that struck a nerve me picking the Wolfpack. Who knows. San Diego State and Florida Atlantic played in the Final Four last year, so it’s possible for a good Wolfpack team to do the same. Great points on Scottie. Great golfer, and, more importantly, stellar guy with a deep faith. A little contrary to what Tiger was at his age and he’s also dedicated to the PGA Tour, which says a lot about him, since several guys bailed for the easy life. Love the guy. He’s spectacular. Thanks again, Steve.
David,..catching up here a little late but am looking forward to some great Hoops starting today.
I hope Spokane is looking forward to some good basketball: Auburn, Bama and UAB.
Thank you for everything.
Thanks, SH!
