Jason Delay was solid again at the plate and behind the dish
Junior Reed Hayes had an outstanding game
The 25th ranked Vanderbilt Commodores baseball team captured a 10-5 victory yesterday over Central Arkansas at Hawkins Field before 2,443 fans.
Senior catcher Jason Delay hit a three run shot in the seventh and drove in 4 runs for the afternoon. Junior Reed Hayes was 3-for-3 with two singles, one a two run single that tied the game in the fifth, a double, and 2 Ribeyes. Hayes, a Johnson City, TN native, is a junior college transfer from Walters State Community College in Morristown, Tennessee. The junior wasn’t done for the day as he came on in the top of the 9th as a reliever and retired all 3 batters he faced striking out two of the three hitters while retiring Central Arkansas in order..
VU moved to 8-5 on the season, and hosts Central Arkansas right now to cap off the two game set. Chandler Day takes the hill for the Dores. Central Arkansas dropped to 6-7 on the season.

Tomorrow night’s game starts at 6 CT/7 ET at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville on the SEC Network.
Friday, I’ll have a basketball recap, and next Monday I will have my conversation with Commodore football offensive coordinator Andy Ludwig on the team as it navigates its way through spring practice.
