Johnny Miller has been awesome this year. Really have enjoyed his commentary. He gets on the players, but he really knows the game and he’s insightful and very funny.
Defending champion: Hunter Mahan.
Purse: $6.2 Million; Winner’s share: $1,080,000
Course: Redstone Country Club Tournament Course
Yardage: 7,457 yards
Par 72.
Key Hole: No.18
A 488-yard par four. Tough finishing hole. Water running all the way down the left side with a huge sand trap hugging the left side as well. The players will try to carry the water as far as possible to set up for a shorter second shot. There is a pretty high risk on the tee shot. The second shot has water on the left and a big bunker on the right. Will be great theater on Sunday.
Winner:
Keegan Bradley:
Four top 10 finishes in 10 events and a tie for third last week at the Arnie. Keegan ready to step in the winner’s circle in the final key tune up for the Masters for many of the big names. Expect Hunter Mahan to play well as the defending champion. Rory playing. He needs to get his game back to where it was before the injury so he can get momentum for the Masters. Brandt Snedeker needs to get his game back to where it was before his injury when he won the AT&T at Pebble Beach. He looked like a real factor at Augusta until the injury. This is an important tournament for him as he seeks to capture his first major. Matt Kuchar not playing. A little surprised by that. Dustin Johnson in the field. He’s a player of interest this week and certainly for the Masters. Phil playing too, and he’s always a threat at Augusta. Still believe a lot in Phil. He’s won the Waste Management this year and has played well a lot of the year. He won the Masters in 2004, 2006 and 2010 so he is certainly a contender at age 42. Phil is certainly a favorite here as he won here two years ago, 2011. All of these guys would like to win the Shell Houston and get ready for the first major, quite possibly the best major of all and the best tournament ever created. This is a good tournament at Redstone Country Club. The hosts put on a good event and the course is fantastic.
The players are all trying to have a good showing so some or many of them can challenge Tiger in two weeks. He hasn’t won at Augusta since 2005, so it will be very interesting.

Any details of mcilroy injury? With jimmy out this week w “illness” I will place DJ as my favorite for a Shell victory.
Hadn’t seen anything on Rory. Looks like Eldrick will be playing @ Augusta. I’m sure Rory will be there too if at all possible. Don’t see either of them winning though. I’ll have a preview and pick this coming Wednesday.
