Phil the Thrill:
Like the fact that Mickelson played in the Scottish Open last week and won it. That says a lot about his preparation, dedication, focus and his ability now to play the European (Scottish) courses and win on them. He’s putting very well, hitting it solidly and he’s the best chipper in the game.
Like Philip Alfred Mickelson to win his fifth major and get a huge monkey off his back and win overseas at the 142nd Open Championship. After that, he wants to get a U.S. and his career would be one of the top six or seven of all-time in my opinion. He’s 42; Phil has a lot of great golf left in him. Such a class guy too. Weather looks nice for the weekend; low 70’s and sunny with 10 mph winds. Pretty benign. Of course in Scotland that can change pretty quickly. Still like Phil regardless. Phil gets it done at Muirfield.
Others in contention:
Graeme McDowell:
Great driver of the ball and putter. Certainly will be in there on Sunday.
Luke Donald:
Accurate player and excellent putter. He’s getting closer and closer and has a shot this weekend.
Lee Westwood:
Think he’s going to get one before he’s done and the British is a good opportunity for him. His putter might keep him from winning it. Always has been his Achilles Heel.

Dear Dave,
Great analysis as usual. I think that you are correct about Phil.
Thanks a million Chuckson. Great to talk to you as usual. Yeah, just like the fact that Phil won last week and he’s been working harder than everybody else. I know the U.S. Open was a disappointment for him, but I think he’s learned from it and will get it done this time. You’re the man as usual Chuck. Please stay in touch!
