San Diego State v UConn for the National Title

The Aztecs of San Diego State electrically claimed their spot in the National Championship Game tonight via a last second 10 foot jumper by guard Lamont Butler that clinched their spot for the as they prevailed electrically over a gritty Florida Atlantic squad, 72-71.

For the Huskies of UConn, it was just another day at the office in this NCAA Tournament as they rolled to a 72-59 victory over the Miami Hurricanes. Should have listened to Brownie and Walter and gone with the Huskies. Oh well. You live and learn.

This matchup features the Huskies dynamic offense, led by 6’9, 245 junior power forward Adama Sanogo, and a collection of scorers and inside dominators versus a team that is predicated on defense. UConn also plays lockdown defense as the Miami game would attest to.

So, the question is, can SDSU contain the high flying Huskies and score enough to secure its first national championship or will the Huskies claim their fifth national title since 1999. They’ve won previously in ‘99, 2004, 2011 and 2014 with prolific players and prolific teams. Here’s the breakdown.

I just can’t see this Huskies team being stopped. I like the Aztecs to hang around for a while and keep it kind of ugly, which is their style. But the Huskies have been too much to handle in this tournament. Coach Danny Hurley and Sanogo lead their team to victory and claim the Huskies 5th national title since 1999. UConn cuts down the nets.
