Just a word on Coach Mason.

He’s my coach for life. Just like Corbs is the best thing that could have happened to Vanderbilt baseball, Coach Mason is the greatest thing that has ever happened to Vanderbilt football. He has his team pumped up for 2016, he has the fan base ecstatic about this football team both this year and in the future, and he believes Vanderbilt football can be as good as anybody in the country. I love it.

He’s done so much to make this program excel both on and off the field. For example, last night before the first practice, the players had a solidarity walk with the Nashville police. That’s awesome. The players had some super internships this summer. Coach Mason is not only trying to win football games, he’s also helping our guys win at life. He wants complete winners.

We’ve got a great team with really outstanding young coaches and some super veteran coaches. Our players are outstanding, under the radar, and Coach Mason is a superb spokesman and leader for Vanderbilt football. He’s an amazingly good football coach.

I believe the same thing about Bryce Drew in basketball. Super excited about Coach Drew and what he can do for our basketball program both next year and after that. Feel the same way about Geoff and the awesome job he’s done with our women’s tennis team, and Scott Limbaugh and the exceptional job he’s done with men’s golf. We have other superb coaches.

But football season is upon us, and I love our leader. He is the man to lead this football program to greatness. I’m a one hundred percent believer in that and Derek Mason.

Will have a piece tomorrow on our pro baseball players, as many as I’ve thought of today. Some incredible stuff going on with those guys. Pedro is totally on fire. His bat is ballistically hot. Will have comments on the man, Dave, another one of the main men, Sonny, Mike Minor, and quite a few other guys. Mike making a rehab stint for Omaha, the triple A club for the KC Royals. Could be back up to the bigs pretty soon. Pitched well so far at Omaha.

Also, will list some more of our football players who will help us excel this season. Not only will I list them, but I will talk about them, too, what they can do to help this football team have a super successful season. South Carolina not far away, September 1st, 7 PM CT/8 PM ET, ESPN. We need to  have Vanderbilt Stadium rockin. Can’t wait myself.
