Wow, what a night from Kyle Wright, Carson gets the W, David on the hill today against the Yanks
Kyle was phenomenal last night
Our No.8 team, led by the awesome Kyle Wright on the mound, defeated the No.2 Texas A&M Aggies, 6-1 at Blue Bell Park before 6,054 fans.
Kyle pitched a gem, going 7, allowing just three hits, 0 runs, with one walk and six K’s. It was a masterpiece by our stud right handed sophomore. Kyle threw 98 pitches with 65 for strikes and 33 balls. He was on fire. His fastball was clocking 95-96, his change up was superb and his curve was biting and just totally fooling the A&M hitters that came in hitting .324 as a team. Jeren Kendall led off last night and was three for four, and he stole three bases raising his total to 23 on the season in 30 attempts. Jeren is a phenomenal player for us and is now hitting .356. DH Alonzo Jones had an RBI sac fly for us and shortstop Connor Kaiser had a clutch two out Ribeye single in the top of the eighth. Collin Snider came in and pitched a perfect 8th, and Ben Bowden, though he ran in a little trouble, finished it off in the 9th. Played stellar defense also with 0 errors. Kyle moved to 6-3 on the season and has a 1.88 ERA now. We moved to 36-11 on the season and 14-9 in the SEC. A&M dropped to 36-10 and 15-8 in conference.
We face the Aggies in the rubber game of the series with freshman right hander Patrick Raby going for us. Patrick is 6-0 with a 1.90 ERA with 14 walks and 52 strikeouts. Pitching Coach Scott Brown likes him because, “he throws strikes. We’ll face right hander Kyle Simonds, who is 7-1 with a 2.83 ERA will get the start for the Aggies. He was good in his last start against Arkansas on the road last Sunday going a complete game and getting the win. This would be huge to take this series.
Carson went six last night for the Birmingham Barons at the Montgomery Biscuits, and got the win, as the Barons defeated the Biscuits, 5-2. Carson went six, gave up five hits, two earned with two walks and seven K’s. Carson moved to 3-3 on the season and now has a 4.99 ERA. He has won his last three outings. C is figuring it out. Carson threw 93 pitches with 61 for strikes and 32 for balls, solid number, almost 2:1 strike ratio. Carson is so much like Sonny. They rely on their hard fastball and their sliders and incredible curves and sometimes the batters don’t swing at them, but they’re such competitors. Carson’s fastball looked 96, his curve was awesome and he mixed in his slider and change up well. He’s awesome. Carson scheduled to be on the hill Wednesday in B’ham at 11 AM central. I will be there for the matinee and will talk to the man.
Dansby playing tonight for the Ms. Braves. He got a hit last night. Will have a report on Dans as well tomorrow.
David Price on the hill right now for the Sox against the Yanks. Will have that report tomorrow as well.
