We got a commit out of solid three star offensive tackle Jared Southers. Jared is from West Orange, New Jersey and is 6’4”, 290. We now have three offensive linemen in the class with another tackle (Darion DeBrossard (6’4”, 323 solid three, Snellville, Georgia) and an offensive guard, Justin Skule (6’6” ,305, Clifton, Virginia) We are in good shape for two running backs, high three-star Bradrick Shaw out of Hoover, Al, who visited over the weekend. Bradrcik had an excellent visit and we have a very good shot with him. He’s 6’1”, 205.The other RB is Marcus Marshall out of Georgia, a solid three-star out of Raleigh, NC had an in-home visit from Coach Ludwig and Coach Bankins and was highly impressed with our two coaches. He is the brother of Georgia running back Keith Marshall, who was a five-star out of high school but has battled injuries. We are battling it out with Georgia Tech and Wake Forest for Marshall. Also, Logan Hunt, a three star d end from Georgia is in the mix. As is Jared Pinkney, a 6’5”, 225 solid three-star wide out from Norcross, Georiga. We are battling it out with Florida and Central Florida for Jared. He’s visiting Florida this weekend and will decide probably next Monday. He had an awesome visit. Also, four-star rb Ke’Shawn Vaughn is still in play, but he didn’t visit over the weakend. He’s apparently coming today, but the coaches will be on the road recruiting, so not sure if this will materialize into a commit. He’s kind of been making a soap opera out of this, but we would surely take him if he gets his act together. There are some others, but those are the main names I’m hearing right now. Also, four-star linebacker commit Josh Smith had an excellent visit. Josh is now being pursued by Oklahoma and Oregon and could very well take visits there, but his brother Emmanuel is a four-star rising redshirt freshman safety on the team and Josh stayed with him last night after his official visit. Really need to hang on to Josh. He is a 92 four-star by 247 sports and a consensus 95 four-star, which puts him pretty  close to five-star status. Need to keep Josh, four-star corner Donovan Sheffield and the entire commitment class. But all were in town for the weekend and it was apparently a blast.
 

Saturday would be almost considered a disaster for the team. Damian played a good game with 21 points and seven or eight boards, but he was 3-of-11 from the line which really hurt us. We lost 60-57 to State. Our outside shooting was non-existent for the most part in the second half too. Damian and Riley need some help with the scoring load and Damian needs to get better at the line, take care of the ball better, pass better and get more physical underneath. He’s a good player, but there are parts of his game that need to improve. Luke is just not physical enough right now, and James didn’t have a very good game on Saturday either. Maybe the both step up going forward and Damian can clean up his game some and Josh Henderson can help us some. Josh is a good offensive player, but just needs to be more physical underneath. Really need Jeff Roberson to step up as well in the rebounding department and the scoring. He’s got great potential, but it needs to be realized ASAP. Shelton and Wade did some pretty good things on Saturday, particularly Wade, but both need to continue to get better and give us some more leadership in passing, scoring and defending. MFD was off with his shot on Saturday, but he should get it back. Riley didn’t have his best game, but he always fights. Kentucky tomorrow night (Tuesday) @ 9 PM ET/8 PM CT on the SEC Network. Have our work cut out for us, but we’re going in there to win.
