JMatt had an awesome game last night for the Philadelphia Eagles. 9 catches for 104 yards. He was targeted nine times and caught every ball thrown to him. Eagles lost to the New England Patriots, 42-35, but good game for their team offensively. Have to play a little better on defense as do the Patriots. Excellent night for JMatt though.
Brandt Sneds birdied No.2 at the Wyndham to get to -8. B is two back of leaders Heath Slocum and Scott Langley. Brandt T-9. Ton of guys up there; it’s a highly competitive tourney with guys playing to get their cards for next year as the top 125 in the Fed Ex standings and the money list after this tourney get their tour cards for next year. So big deal this weekend. Brandt safely in, but would like to see him move up in Fed Ex and in Ryder Cup standings. A win here might get him a captain’s choice by captain Tom Watson. And, if he keeps playing well in the Barclays next week and in the Deutsche Bank in two weeks. Watson will make his captain’s picks (three selections) on Sapt. 2nd, the Monday after the final round of the Deutsche. Brandt currently 21 in the Ryder Cup standings.
Jon Curran is -6 and Luke List is -4 at the News Sentinel Open on the Web.com tour. Jon is -1 today through 9, and Luke is E through 17 and just birdied 17. Leader is Ryan Armour @ -11, He shot 63 today. Some guys up there who have not teed off just yet. Would love to see Luke birdie 18 and go off tomorrow. He needs it for the standings. Of course, want Jon to do well also, but he’s safely in the 25 now and will be on the tour next year. Luke needs to get in the top 75 of the standings to get in Web.com playoffs. Jon at No.9 and Luke is @ 115, so Luke needs a good tournament finish this week and a really good tournament next week @ the Winco Foods Portland Open, the last tournament in the regular season. Playoffs start in two weeks.
Brandt just birdied four from 6 feet. Hit a nice chip shot and sank his putt.
By the way, Jay Cutler had a good game Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jags, Jay, in about four or five series played, completed 7 of 9 for 75 yards including a four yard TD pass to Brandon Marshall. Jay’s rating was 138.4-excellent as the top rating is 157. The Bears came back from a 19-7 deficit in the fourth quarter to win 20-19. I told my wife I call our coach, Marc Trestman,, Marc Trustman. Love that guy. If the defense can deliver, a deep run-Super Bowl– is definitely in the cards.
Mike Minor pitched well for the Braves Tuesday night, but took a tough loss, 4-2, to the awesome Dodgers. Mike pitched 6.2 innings, gave up eight hits, three earned with one walk and 7 K’s. Mike now 4-8 with a 5.33 ERA, but an encouraging outing against the Dodgers. Braves did beat the A’s last night, 7-2. Sonny Gray on the hill tonight for the A’s vs Julio Teheran of the Braves.
David Price on the hill for the Tigers against King Felix Hernandez tonight in Comerica Park in the Motor City.Tigers lost last night to the Seattle Mariners, 7-2.
Brandt just sank an 8 foot birdie putt on number 5 to move into a tie for the lead at -10. Beautiful. If the putter is clicking, which it looks like it is, could be an epic tourney for Brandt. Brandt tied with Slocum, Langley and Freddie Jacobson for lead. Andres Romero just birdied to join them. Brandt about 18 feet on 6 for birdie.
Luke birdied 18 to move to -5 for tourney. T-41, but good finish going birdie-birdie. Jon still at -6 through 11.
