Commit in, guys bball with huge win; girls on the hardwood today

Commit No.10, Khari Blasingame
Number 10 as Derek Mason builds back up the recruiting class. Three-star defensive back Khari Blasingame, a 6’1″, 203 pound safety out of New Market, Alabama (Buckhorn High School), committed last night on his official visit to VU. Khari had committed to Minnesota in December, but informed the Minnesota coaches last night that he had changed to VU. As a senior, Khari recorded 74 tackles, 58 unassisted, with two interceptions and a fumble recovery on defense. As a running back, he ran for 1,163 yards and 10 TDs. Good pickup here. Khari could be a running back for us as we need some bigger guys at the RB position, though Jerron Seymour and Biran Kimbrow give us toughness and go the distance speed. Really like Jerron and Brian is coming along. Upcoming redshirt freshman Ralph Webb looked pretty powerful on film at 5’10”, 190 and Jerron is at 200 and Kimbrow will probably be 190-195 by the start of the season next year with speed to go the distance anytime be breaks through the line of scrimmage. Kimbrow is a 4.4 guy. Also in this class, high three-star running back Dallas Rvers, a 6’0″, 200 pounder from Stone Mountain, Georgia, will help immensely in the coming years. Good size and speed. If Khari stays in the secondary, we have an outstanding secondary class with four-stars Kyle Gibson, Emmanuel Smith and solid to high three-stars Trent Sherfield, Bryce Lewis and Tre Herndon coming in this fall. Would like to see us add a lineman or two on offense and defense, a wide receiver, Kameron Uter is on campus this weekend and he may recommit after de-commiting a week and a half ago, and maybe add a quarterback or two. Shawn Stankavage,, a 6’3, 185 pound qb out of Raleigh, N.C. is very interested and could get an offer. Will keep you updated as soon as anyone else pops. A lot of good players on campus this weekend including all the commitments, and some uncommitted guys.

Bball with a huge win yesterday at Texas A&M, 66-55 James Siakam with a huge day recording his second double double this season with 22 points and 10 rebounds. James also added three assists and four blocks. Just an awesome overall performance from James. He was 10-of-13 from the line as well. Kyle added 19. He was three-of-five from three point land, and eight of eight from the stripe. Luke Kornet came in later in the first half and was huge for us. Luke was three-of-five from trifecta, and they were big shots. He’s got a great shot, so it is really good to see Luke get it going. Rod didn’t have his best game, but hit a huge three late. Dai_jon didn’t shoot it great yesterday, but Kevin liked his floor game. He had eight boards and five assists. We outrebounded the Aggies, 36-33, and 19-of-23 from the line (83%). Excellent day for the team. We moved to 10-8 overall and 2-4 in the SEC. We head to Athens to play Georgia on Wednesday at 7 PM ET/6 CT on CSS. If Luke can keep up his good work off the bench and Damian, who played decently yesterday, can keep improving and Shelby and walk-on Carter Josephs, who played well at point in relief of Kyle, can give us solid minutes, we can beat Georgia Wednesday and keep progressing as this season just improved immensely yesterday at College Station.
No.16 girls bball plays host to N0.10 South Carolina at Memorial at 2 PM ET/ 1 CT on ESPN2. Girls now 16-3, 5-1 in the SEC After three huge wins over UT, Ole Miss and LSU. UT and LSU were both in the top 10 at the time. Hopefully gals can get it done today. Will; let you know on that too.
